Thongs, bare feet or even tougher stuff can not survive some bottom dwelling sharpe stuff. A old pair of diving boots are my preference for launching and retrieving.

Worked at Monkey Mia (Shark Bay WA) for a short time. Razor oysters or spear oysters gave the local nurse or doc a bit of sewing practice!

As an addendum I did email the local council, Sunshine Coast Council, who i think are the best council in Australia. In the email i stated all the obvious plus some detail about the injury. I received a call from an SCC Inspector the next day, or the day after whilst i was in hospital. He was on site at the ram at the time. He explained that the offending ramp was not their asset but was managed by them on the behalf of TMR/DOT. He was immediately going to close the ramp and request special funding to get divers in to inspect the ramp. All this I thought was being very pro-active until the next sentence "we have to do this to lessen the effects of any litigation". I was not thinking of any litigation at the time however, now that he has put it in my mind. It could be possible as i will be off work for sometime and another day on from my original post and there has been zero improvement, if anything the wound is marginally worse. In the end all i wanted was to to get it repaired so no one else would be screaming at the sky and trees in pain because they had done the same thing.

I have had a total shoulder replacement performed 7 months ago and the pain i am experiencing now is way over the top of the replacement surgery and recovery.

We sometimes launch at Warneet. Vic at near low tide and there is little water to drive my boat on and off the trailer. My mate usually takes his shoes off and wades into the little bit of water to help the retrieve. The local bait shop owner at the ramp has caught a couple of Blue ring occys at the ramp and posted pics. My mate now wears shoes.
