Yep, if its a flail it will be old rubber, we a flail to control sifton bush and I've never done a tyre with it. I'd be surprised if yours doesn't have a tube though. I usually empty them and take the rim to my friendly tyre repairer, not cheap though, the last one was in April and was $170 for a sleeve on the inside of the tyre, tube repair and reassembly. That was for a front tyre on our 100HP FWA Fiat.

well I just cleaned the mud off the back tire and started draining the water out. Man ... those wheel nuts..... TIGHT. 30seconds easily with my 3/4 " hitachi rattle gun to break several of them :o Anyway a friend said check if it has cast wheels. While looking closely at the wheels I noticed the lip is rusted away (it wasn't mud, it was rust). Obviously that tube has been weeping for decades (weird given I have never had to add air/water to it).
Does anyone know of a tractor wreckers in the ballarat area ? .... or a parts B series International for sale with usable tires/wheels fitted.... (it'll probably be cheaper to buy another tractor with decent rubber than replace the wheel and tire).

The tractor wreckers in Colac have all sorts but a bit far I know.
I have tried to ring that wrecker at colac a few times this week. He never answers his phone though. Interestingly I found a video on breaking beads that reckons just use a trolley jack and ratchet strap... hmmm....
It took a couple of day to finally get the majority of the ballast out of that damn tire (they must use pumps to remove it normally). Then the wheel didn't want to move .... I ended up pulling the gaurd off and using a legnth of wood and a sledge hammer to the back of the wheel.

Then just start jacking ......
The wheel is absolutely buggered.... the lip of the rim is rusted away and jagged both sides.... And I broke the valve extension getting it out. I cut my hands up pretty nicely getting the tube out. The tube was being pinch by the crack in the side wall, so for now I just glued a bit of rubber over the crack and repaired the hole in the tube................ Oh, if you can't find the glue for your puncture repair kit, don't try to use contact adhesive .... as it appears to be the same stuff .............................. Its not, and the bastard of a wheel will cut you up just ad much the 2nd time around after you go for a drive to buy another punture repair kit.
I still need to chase up a wheel/tire. Finding a parts tractor would be good ............. but at least its still moveable for now. Oh, I'm not game enough to put enough air in the old perished tire to pop the bead back over the safety land LOL.... I'm worried if I put a lot of air in it and the tire didn't explode ... it might take the rusty lip of the rim with it when it pops.
We do this **** for run right ?

Otherwise you may be able to get an engineering shop to repair it.
Yeah, he was going to have a look .............. I guess I better keep hassling him until he gets around to it. He seems like a nice guy, but a bit busy and forgetful [bigrolf] I did buy a starter from him earlier this year and it did promptly turn up in the mail exactly as described.Quote:

He’s good but slow. He’s also running out of the older stuff and what’s left is usually rusting away. Still you never know!
Other option is Neil’s. They usually freight stuff but generally expensive.

boss women was most impressed when she found the new wheel came attached to a whole entire tractor [bigrolf] [biggrin] [bigwhistle]
The guy that had it bought it from someone that had spent quite a bit of money rebuilding the head as the motor was mixing oil/coolant ..... anyone want to guess what happened with he fitted the rebuilt head back on..........
So anyway, the guy purchased it to fix another tractor. he has swapped the hydraulic lid over. Its a complete tractor. The motor sounds fantastic ... and stangely seems to fire right up without the aid of glow plugs ( how is that possible ?). Its a pitty water ends up in the crankcase.

1960s engine guardian. it automatically shuts down the engine if there is any issues ... eg: overheating/oil pressure/etc. so the tractor can be left driving pumps etc without an operator on it.
So now I have plenty of spare parts. The best bit is all the brakes work, so I'll move them sideways to the other machine.

For future reference, wooden wedges are very effective for breaking the bead.

Interestingly the Perkins in my 165 fires straight up, even when quite cold - without glowing it. Haven’t had to start it below around 6 to 8 degrees yet so not sure if this will hold true when it gets cooler.
