The announcements are part of a number of huge renewable hydrogen projects mooted around Australia, including several in Western Australia, a series of hubs planned by South Australia, and a push by the Queensland government to do the same around Gladstone and other centres.

The small stores/cafes etc obviously shifting demand
And the residential side is obviously significantly higher.
The Queensland zinc refiner Sun Metals has announced it will go 100 per cent renewables, and will add further capacity to pursue “green hydrogen” opportunities in transport and export in what is being regarded as one of the most significant developments in Australia’s energy transition.
The decision by the South Korean owned Sun Metals refinery – the second biggest single energy user in Queensland, and one of the biggest in Australia – to reach 100 per cent renewables by 2040 has been described as a “tipping point” by Jon Dee, the Australian head of the RE100 initiative.
“This commitment by Sun Metals to go 100% renewable by 2040 is a real game changer,” Dee said in a statement. “If Sun Metals can go fully renewable by 2040, there’s no reason why every other Australian refinery and smelter can’t do the same.

Am I wrong or do batteries not produce any power.
They just store power.
if there is no power produced then batteries will soon run out of stored power.
The day before yesterday wind power was running at 8-10% of capacity Australia wide. It is running at 20% today (source Wind Energy in Australia.)
If it were dull as well , the network would have been in trouble without coal and gas.
Without coal , Gas and maybe pumped Hydro Generation ability the network will crash maybe an hour to maybe 4 hours in the future.
Gas coal and hydro will still have a role.

You would have to think that those perceived problems have been worked out.
Its submission to the territory’s Environment Protection Authority says the Middle Arm battery will “provide lower cost electricity grid services and replace a portion of gas fired spinning reserve, to reduce the cost of electricity services for the Darwin Katherine Integrated System.”
It will also reduce greenhouse gas emissions through the reduced spinning reserve requirement and the increased operating efficiency of existing gas-fired power generators. The big battery at Newman in the Pilbara has achieved similar cost reductions and increased reliability in the grid that supplies some of the country’s biggest iron ore mines.
Sun Cable proposes to build 10GW of large scale solar, along with between 22-30 gigawatt hours of battery storage, and lay a cable from Darwin to Singapore, where it could account for up to one third of the country’s electricity needs.
