    We had 79.5mm overnight.

Paddocks are pretty wet and all dams overflowing.

I echo both sentiments Mrs HH.

We had a 24 hour outage in Numbulwar - which meant water ran out as well.

Had a 31 hour outage in Nhulunbuy.

Since being back in Darwin 12 hours in March 2014 has been the longest.

    PS. Not nice for anyone.

    If you look here
Wind Energy in Australia | Aneroid

You will see that at 1105 Thursday 29th only about 1/2 of the wind farms in SA are on line and some are below 20% for a total of 194MW which is not much. according to another site that equates to 32,000 homes.
    Pretty poor effort IMHO.

Yair, what sort of magic egg beaters are they if they can't transmit their power to the city when the major power lines are all down?????? Doh. It's like how your LR sprouts wings when the highway bridge ahead of you collapses!!11!11!

Seriously, there are 22 transmission towers down (at least) in the area where many of the state's wind farms are. Just before the outage, wind was providing 800MW, not an inconsiderable amount. When the towers went, the grid shut down to protect its assets, just like it was designed. Currently the wind farms in SA's south east are running quite happily and providing much needed power to the grid. When the second half of the storm passes (in a day or two) crews will be able to get heavy lifting gear closer to the damage and start the repairs. Meanwhile, gas plants and the interconnector will do what they're designed to do and keep the electrons flowing.

Well it was coming to Melbourne, but we did not get the storm that the weather bureau was talking up last night here. Must have lost it power coming across, luck us. Our front lawn is under water at the moment we do not want anymore. Heather

I think it is scary how much we rely on power, or tamed lightning.

We had a 3 hour (about) Power outage last week in Ravenshoe.

The kids thought the world had stopped spinning!
No TV, No X-Box, No Foxtel, Tablets running out of charge, No microwave!
The world as we know it is ending!

While SWMBO cooked dinner on the gas stove I got the kids to sit around & had them guess what animals I was describing. Lasted a couple of hours & guess what?
They actually enjoyed it, had fun & know their animals pretty well.

I know in the Cities power is a bit more important, traffic lights, trams & trains, but surely we can last a day or so without such a fuss?

Then, I must admit, I don't like the power going off in Doomadgee - No A/C!!
    So I'm a hypocrite.

Problem solved here by using Camper and Newly acquired Honda EU20I

Will be interesting as our 4wd club is hosting a big event here this weekend.

Plenty of mud to play in for a change but blowing a gale...

And yes, I've done the cyclone thing. Not pleasant..

Here's the root of the problem..
