Sorry spending $8k on tyres does not make you an expert at all, I have more than that in one hit on truck tyres, understanding the construction, wear, handling and requirements being tasked are what make you an expert. Spending money is just spending money. Now I am certainly not an expert, but know what has worked for me and what has not. Also certainly not saying you are not an expert either, but again just spending money does not make you one. If it were so I would be an expert in many thing, but am not, that is for sure.:o:wasntme::angel::p
Although it is a fair way away as my 255 70 16 BFG ATKOs on my D2 have about 8MM on them after about 40KK, I am interested to hear reviews of the Kumho MT51 as far as road noise, nibbling on lines and wear are concerned.
They look great , as an intermediate AT/MT tyre but if they are noisy they would be intolerable.
I once had a set of BFG MTs ( old pattern) on an RRC and they drove me mad with diving into corners because of the square shoulder, the noise , and the thump thump when slowing to a stop. But they were the ducks gutz on mud.
I was keen on the new BFG MTs until a mate had them on a Nissan ute and told me that they were quiet at first but became very noisy as they wore.
BTW my BFG AT KOs have had no punctures at all and no chunking of the rears despite a round OZ trip towing a 1000KG camper. The only thing negative I notice is that they seem to be becoming harder and harsher as they age , but that could be my imagination.
The KO2s look even better as they have more aggressive shoulders.

I completely agree with that... not an expert at all, but have a fair idea.
That 8k only includes my personal cars, trailers and the race car (which contibuted about 5k to that figure). And does not count the work vehicles I have organised to have fitted out with decent rubber (another couple of grand, but I did not foot the bill).
8k just quantifies it, but that's 34 tyres for personal use, in the last 12 months. Ranges from semi-slick tyres all the way through to Simex's... I well and truly don't get ripped! LOL
EDIT: It was pretty scary adding up that figure...

I use BF Goodrich ATs in 245-70 16 on my D2. That's the smallest size they do in a light truck construction that'll fit on your D2 and only 4mm oversize. The speedo is now spot on too :D. Avoid passenger construction tyres if you are doing any remote travel or off road work. ;)
D697's for last 10k (80% towing) and very happy. Air down well ... 265/70 $265F&B.
