    Kitchen cupboard doors

Seeing there is no sub-forum for this...... here goes. We moved into a new house in 2003. Since then some of the cupboard doors around the stove area are having the laminated covering come off or lifting. I assume the doors are made of some kind of cheap reconstructed timber and I am asking if these would be suitable for staining or painting. The old covering cannot be replaced. I would like new timber doors but the cost... Any advice? Jim

There's a mob called Board and Benchtops at Castle Hill. 96802035. Give them a ring. You'll need measurements to get an idea of cost.

    Photos would help.
I am going to guess that they a vinyl wrapped door, vinyl over most likely MDF so would not be suitable for staining - possibly being able to be painted.
Most kitchen cupboards are fairly standard sizes - you might be able to find replacement at Bunnings or Ikea.

You can buy timber laminated chip board or MDF Vic ash ( TAS Oak) but other species are available but dearer is pretty standard, it;s pretty cheap, you either cut it with a table saw or get the supplier to cut it ( they only charge a few dollars to do it. The timber edgeing strips are on a roll and iron on, trim and file the edge veneer after applied and lacquer or stain and lacquer.
