If it is just one it may be OK. Rapid set will attain a strength of 50-75% of proper footing concrete mixes.

Pretty sure it says somewhere on the bag
"Not to be used for srtuctural purposes"
I may be wrong , i'd have to go to the shed and check a bag.

I agree with all the above - bit Better Homes and Gardens use it for everything - not good practice.

I made my fencing contractor use proper concrete for our 2m colourbond fence and he was not happy at all as it turned a 1 day job into a 2 day job and said he wouldn't guarantee the footings if the posts moved during the drying process - he backed off when I said that if that was the case he would have to support the posts while the concrete dried - more work.

However it is more the weight of the concrete than its actual strength with these sort of posts so once set should be OK.

We use it for road signs all the time.
A mate from the Kimberley swore by the stuff if they were bara fishing in the wet. They would keep a couple of bags on the ute incase of rain.Tells me if they got stuck it was usualy due to lack of traction.Tip the stuff in the wheeltracks,a beer or 2 then continue as normal.

It expands and cracks over time.

Has costs some landscaper friends time and obviously money to fix.

I don't use it for anything anymore, especially structural.

    cheers, DL
