There are times when >40kph would be useful at off-road height.

Eg. Climbing a sand dune which needs some speed to get up or a road with a really high centre which would be a down right pain to drive for long distances at 40kph when 80kph is still very safe.

School Zones are limited to 40 kph. Shopping centre carparks are 15 Kph and suburban streets are generally 50 kph except for speed humps at 20 kph. According to my trip computer my commuter driving is at 20 kph average.

Clearance is required whilst doing U turns over kerbs and median strips.

I thought the same as Mick when i read that letter, total Knob. He clearly has no understanding of off roading, sure the high setting might be nice at higher speeds, possibly on sand, but not a necessity, and it would be much safer at the next setting down anyway. If he stopped and thought about what **** was coming out of his mouth then he might shock himself. As others have said, the suspension has nothing to do with him not buying a land rover, its because he only has one eye, and a mind that is narrower than a back lane in the UK. Matt

i'm sure the terrain response knob would only confuse him even more 8O 8O 8O


best he stick to a LC we dont want them sort of knobs on here :wink:

I don't know much about the D3 but on my P38A, there are four ride height settings controllable by the driver plus one selected by the computer.

In ascending (pun intended), they are (from http://rangerrovers.net):

1. Access Mode -- the lowest setting, 2.5 inches below standard ride height on the Classic and 4.0/4.6, and 1.8 inches (40 mm) on the Mk III. On the latter two models it can be "preselected" prior to stopping, and on the Mk II it can actually be activated when the speed drops below 15 mph.

2. Low Profile/Motorway -- an inch (0.8 inch or 20 mm on the Mk III) below standard; selected automatically above 50 mph (62 mph Mk III) unless inhibit switch is depressed.

3. Standard Height -- default position used in normal around-town driving.

4. High Profile/Off Road -- 1.6 inches above standard on Classic and 4.0/4.6 models; 2.4 inches (front) and 2.0 inches (rear) on Mk III.

5. Extended Profile (Classic & 4.0/4.6 only) -- 2.8 inches above standard; selected by the ECU when it senses the vehicle is high centered.

Is the correspondent confusing off-road with extended profile?

Yeah, got back from the trip to Tassie (Caught up with Phoenix) , and things got a little out of hand at work. Broke all records, and had 3 death threats in the one week 8O . 2 I took very seriously. The first took to us with a hammer, 8O 8O he ended up on the other end of some serious full body massage . The second crazy managed to get hold of my full name and address . I’m not listed in any phone books or electoral roll. Ended up spending a couple of weeks sleeping with the shotgun, and Mrs TP at her mums . I was more worried about him throwing a Molotov cocktail at the Defender or baits over the fence that the dogs or the little one might pick up.
At any rate some serious whoop ass is now being directed at their misguided little egos. Push me, punch me, call me ***** but don’t ever, ever threaten the family. I think they got the message .
Some times I love my job, sometimes they don't pay me enough. Times like this I think they can stick it. I just need that break, and make my part time job my full time job. Or a powerball!!!!!! And I'm out of here.
