The current application form hasn't changed. A replica is still able to be given a permit.

I know a fellow with a 1886 Benz replica. He won't be very happy if his club permit is cancelled and he has to put it on full registration.

Well he might need too, sorry but don't agree that a modern vehicle should be able to go on classic rego, it defeats the whole idea of restoring a classic vehicle, if it's not classic or vintage and 25 to 30yrs or older(or is it) it's not eligible as far as I'm and a lot of others are concerned, of coarse it is eligible if your mate replica is 25yrs and older.
    Cheers Baz.

Its happening SA to change historic registration laws

Changes to conditional registration for historic vehicles scheduled for 1 July - Jay Weatherill, Premier of South Australia

Vehicles over 30 years now eligible (previously fixed 1979 cut of date). Modified vehicles eligible. This means land rovers with holden conversions can get it.

90 bucks for 90 days use a year. Need to be part of a car club and need to use a log book.

Personally i have a 1957 morris which was not quite original enough, a 1980 LR series 3 all original that was ineligible by 1 month & a 1983 wb holden modified ute that are now eligible for conditional rego. The cost to rego all three for a year now is nearly the same as it was to rego one for 3 months!

Well done to all involvedSA to change historic registration laws SA to change historic registration laws

I know for a fact that our historic reg person will straight out refuse to allow any land rover with a holden engine to be registered "historically" with our club. My s3 will be eligible if the legislation passes. Might have to join another club. Rego Will be heaps cheaper for me. I would be struggling to use it more than 90 days even now. Its currently on full commercial vehicle rego.

Hi Rod i think there are going to be a few of the "vintage" brigade that are going to disagree with the new changes as before it was quite an exclusive club. the rego will no longer be called "historic" but will now be "conditional". If they refuse find another club that isn't stuck in the past. Try the Street Machine Association of SA Street Machine Association of South Australia Inc. There motto is "all makes, all eras, all welcome.
