The way people are driving this week in and around Perth/WA , it is going to be a very quite Christmas for some , and it will be sad time for the Mothers/Fathers/Brothers/Sisters left behind of the people who will not make it .
Cmon , slow down and take care on the roads its Christmas , dont stuff it up .

A lot of this happens every Christmas, I think it's all the hype and stress of it all, every one is in a rush at the last minute and eager to have a break they lose sight of their behavior. Unfortunately people forget we live in a civilised society that has rules , some don't like the rules and want to rebel. they think they have the right to do as they please and stuff everyone else. Unfortunately for them cilivilsed societies have rules which govern people.

    Hi,
Too much to get done in too little time I suspect.
I put it all off till February, and by then most have forgotten about it because Easter is selling every thing everywhere.

    Cheers

I don't see anything different at xmas....the SE Qld M1 is constantly plagued by idiots.

Where are the police patrols? Parked on the side of the M1 hoping to catch motorists doing 7km over the speed limit.

Good luck to that, it's very rare that the M1 is flowing at a speed fast enough for speed cameras......but the idiots still crash all over the bloody thing.

I hear ya Fatso. Perth driving has been abysmal. Went to Kings Park on Sat night and there was a car driving down St Georges Tce swerving all over the road. When we passed him turns out he was flossing his teeth!!! Oh and then he went through a red light. The other car in front of us turned left from the middle lane cutting off a taxi.

Then on the way home we were cut off by an idiot on the freeway whilst going at 100km per hour!!

    Just morons!!

I generally stay off the tredly at this time of year and the week before easter. Next year I'd like to take the 2 weeks before Xmas off and head out of the metro area to escape the madness.

Yeah, Melbourne drivers have got even worse in the last 2 weeks if that's possible... Done 1,600KM in the last fortnight around the burbs, and things are getting out of hand in some places.

I was sitting with the cruise control on 60 the other day - in a 60 zone, 2 lanes in each direction. I got passed - at speed - by everyone... One guy behind me that couldn't get into the 'fast' lane even honked his horn at me.

The Police have been on that stretch of road 4 times in the last 2 weeks pulling up hundreds of vehicles, but they are barely making a dent in it.

I'm off camping in the morning - I'll leave when I get up at 4.30am - there are less loons on the road at that time.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

I've not noticed any difference in driving behaviour. 90% of Perth drivers are ignorant at the best of times.
What about some courtesy (and that's not wot you do when meeting the Queen), common sense ( as others have said, it ain't too common) and showing some level of competence more than the minimum required to get the licence in the first place?
A few police patrols doing their job policing ALL road rules not just minor speeding rules might help in the long term as well, but for that you need competent police drivers.
And from what we see around Joondalup where their academy is, they're few and far between.
