Anyone planning on using this road to bypass Gilgandra on the Newell Hwy should be aware that the bridge over the Castlereagh River at Mendooran is scheduled to be closed for the second half of January 2017.

It avoids Gilgandra, perfectly good road, less traffic than the Newell. Coming north out of Dubbo turn right at Brocklehurst (4km), just past the Talbragar River (speed limit drops from 90 to 80, 50 through Brocklehurst), then turn right across the railway 3km further on (all signposted).
My turnoff is another 26km on.
