Trav,
I love ya & your trips! https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ Don't worry about the old fooggies. Landy's went meant to live on blacktop!!
NOZ,
I'm editor of RRCQ club and hope to join LROC soon. (C U Monday!)
We have members from all over SEQ and Nth NSW. Whilst they may not make a lot of meetings, they sure attend plenty of trips.
Majority of trips we've had lately & that are coming up, have been Nth of brisbane, gympie, kenilworth, sunshine coast etc.
I know meetings are necessary and good for socialising, input etc., but the location they are held never entered my mind. (although it's super handy). What they do, the trips, etc.etc. far more important to me. Like Trav, I joined to use my vehicle, not pass motions.
Only reason i didn't join LROC years ago was I couldn't find up to date details, website etc. (now rectified).
it's a big job starting/running/maintaining a club. For the sake of an extra 15ks, I think'd be much better to consolidate the clubs present. Push for trips or social events on the Nthside for sure, but to form a club, I don't think it would really serve a genuine need.
Particularly when there's 2 in brissy and the Sunshine Coast LROC. Like GCLRO - I could see the need for that, sure.
Maybe a 1/2 way Caboolture, I can understand - but then that's not convienent to South Sunny coasters or Nth Brisbaneites anyway.
Just my thoughts.......
Would anyone be interested in "Fraser Coast" or "Wide Bay" LROC? OR even a "Bundy" LROC?
I hear all your pionts , but still there are guys out there that want to attend meetings and go on 4wd trips. Why then could not one of the current clubs (who both hold there meetings on the Southside) hold the occasional meeting on the northside ? Dont you think this would satisfy all concerned ?
Cheers
maybe one of the current clubs could explore the option of holding 2 meetings... one official executive committee meeting at its current location, day time etc. And a more social one, outlining what was discussed at the other meeting and more for a general chat on the northside the following week... or vice-versa
First monday of the Month - Social get-together on northside
Second Monday of the month - Official executive committee meeting
Would also give a chance to throw around ideas and agenda items, brainstorm a few ideas... then present formally at the executive meeting https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
I'm all for an additional club when needed but worth throwing around the idea of seeing if an existing club can fill the gap first before going through all the legal fuss of setting up a new club. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
i have attended one of the LROC Brisbane meetings. having two boys under five to look after every night made it a pain attending the meeting. a good bunch of guys and the 4wd clubs under the national organisation all together do some good work fighting for access to state/national parks and the whole tread lightly thing. i'm still undicided if i will join. if i was to join travelling to the southside would not be an issue once a month.
years ago i was a member of the toyota landcruiser club brisbane and didn't enjoy it as it was a huge club with too many clicky groups.
at least with l/r clubs they are not going to be big.
i attended the aulro mt mee trip organised by segfisho earlier this year which was a top day out.
there are plenty of aulro organised trips around aus, vic and nsw seem to be the leaders. aulro is national and the trips would be no different to club trips, maybe i will have to pull my finger out and organise one to boonah.
It was only a thought, but I like the idea of a club alternating its meetings.
As I said Austral Landrover maybe interested especially if 1 off the exsisting clubs maid the request
Yep I can definitely see your point. I would say, however, that this would mean an additional nights attendabce requirement for at least some of the executive (if that swap of ideas and feedback were to occur) and with the club meeting and executive meetings taking place (interestingly the executive meeting is on the Northside at Windsor Coffee club and any member is welcome to attend if they want so see what 'goes on' at one) this is a bit to ask. Really it would depend on there being quite a number of people that WOULD join the club if such a measure was adopted.Quote:

By the way this discussion we are having is not exclusive to LR clubs or 4wd clubs but the same applies in many instances. I am involved in a number or clubs / organisations and the ONLY one that has meeting in 2 distant locations is the Queensland Air Museum where the general meeting is in Calundra and Executive Meeting in Brisbane. As you can imagine this puts quite a demand on the executive !
Cheers.
Ok I give up, I will join a club early next year but just wont attend any meetings ( maybe 1 so I can ask why you dont have a meeting on the northside every once and a while )
I really dont see the problem in having the odd meeting in a different location Eg: Austral @ Newstead
I know I live on the southside but I really don't see what the issue is. It's only once a month and even if you only want to attend maybe once every three months or even every six months. I know we all have busy lives but I'm sure we can make room for a club meeting every now and then.Quote:

But some people don't attend the meetings, the mag details trips and what's going on so you can just do the trips if you wish.
By the way, the RRC used to have the meetings at Austral. Why we left was the room we had was too small in the end and Southsuide LR offered more accomidating space. Austral is a little more central to be honest for northside members.
Not having a go, so northsiders don't go beserk please.
