Reminds me, years ago it was some blokes Birthday & we were invited for lunch at some distant Restaurant down at Southern Vales.
Driving the Discovery,(which is all we had) as we pulled into the Carpark, this bloke's wife loudly said for everyone to hear,"Darling we should have brought the Range Rover". [This was back in the days when driving a RaRo gave you some supposed street Cred.]
We saw her again about a month later & guess what she was driving? A bloody Discovery.
Talk about being a wonker, the same "Hubby & Wife Team", bought a vineyard in the hills nearby just as people were unloading their White Elephants because the arse had fallen out of the industry back then, & it was nigh impossible to get a Winery Contract. They eventually did in the end [I think], but it was her Mother's borrowed money (Thousands) they lost.
As I said, Wonkers!
Sorry Ron,back to you.

Reminds me of a meeting I went to at the RR Club. There was discussion as to whether Evoque owners should be allowed to join the Club. It was agreed they could as the cars were badged RR.
Similarly, many years before, there was similar discussion re D1 owners joining. It was agreed as the D1 was based on the RRC.

I remember the Adelaide mob doing this. The club was suggested to us by some bod. We went on just one drive through the hills to Monarto Zoo [WOW!] & what a bunch of snooty unfriendly lot they were. They all had their little Cliques so we said ****em they are not getting our cash. Never went back.
Got a lot of my LR knowledge for the S2A & D1 from a Bloke named Bob Coombes at Nailsworth an Indie. His surname eludes me for the mo & he has since died about 20 years ago.
