Interesting, but I am talking about a concrete Rainwater Tank Clean with clean Air at the surface. Chemical would be a different set of circumstances


At least if the first guy is wearing an "around the neck flotation device" (PFD) but cannot activate it, then the 2nd bloke could, & at least keep #1's head above water until the AMBOs/Fire Service arrive then it is a different Ball game of getting the bloke out of the manhole & Resus him/her.

These blokes wear cumbersome waist length Waders so stumbling seems to be a possibility. Not sure whether a Mobile Phone would even work in a steel roofed concrete structure also assuming it wasn't dropped to the bottom in the panic.

Seems to me that at least 2 blokes should be in the tank for just such an Emergency.

Bloke that I used to work with used to tell the story of growing up on a farm in Canada. They used mules on the farm, and one particular mule would not work for him. One day his Father sent him out in a cart behind a mule. He was able to pickup whatever it was but then the mule decided that was enough for one day and refused to go any further. In desperation he lit a small fire under the mule. The bloody mule moved forward until the cart was over the fire and there he stopped! Not sure what happened to the cart, but I think that if it had been me the mule would have very soon found a ventilation hole in his head!

Maybe that is correct, Dave, but when I booked the clean, all they told me it must have aprox. 1 metre of water in it so they can move around & pump the crap outside. Including the dead rat in a bucket, unless they brought that with them to justify the clean.[bigrolf] Suspicious? Moi?


Many tanks here are permanently roofed to stop the ingress of Possums & other fauna.

'er indoors still hasn't got over seeing this rat in the bucket. BiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiilLLLL.!
