Interesting, Odd or Funny Pics II.

I have nothing against V8’s at all - I have 3 of them, I just think the supercars as they stand now are completely irrelevant and have lost what they had. I used to be a huge fan, travel to multiple races and Bathurst each year, etc but that’s when the cars were more of what the OEM had put together and not just a fully custom race car with a badge thrown on it to pretend likes it’s actually based on a car you can buy. Has as much relevance to those manufacturers as an F1 car. And now Holden have gone the way of the Dodo, why keep racing cars with that badge on them? That makes no sense at all - unless they want it to be a “classic” racing series???

It’s basically just a 1 make series anyway, with a choice of what brand V8 you drop in it - everything else is the same.

“Camero” v “Mustang” is even more irrelevant than ever in this country so how they plan to get viewers back with those cars is a bit beyond me to be honest.

Pity really as I like the actual racing but not being able to support a brand makes it impossible to get excited about now.

They have successfully killed what was a great series. Putting it all on Foxtel didn’t help either IMO as that’s cut around 80% of their TV audience out for a quick cash grab - the greedy buggers at the top have done a terrible job in the last few years trying to grow the audience- it’s had the exact opposite effect. I didn’t even know Bathurst was on this year - it’s normally spruiked everywhere but I didn’t see it advertised anywhere on line, on any channel I watch etc - which is never usually the case - Not even a thread on here which is unusual too - I actually thought they had called it a day until someone bought up the race in this thread.

True,Gav,but like many things today,us older guys know what it was like in the old days.

The younger generation just go along with what it is like now as they know no different.

Yes I agree with Foxtel was the worse thing they could of done, but others think different.

But GM and Ford Dealers will be selling Mustangs and Camaro V8's,, so you can buy them,,
and if you are dum enough to think thats whats actually racing, then YOU are the target audience...

I think atm Aussie Race Cars are the best racing in Oz,,
but they pale when compared to the last 2 MotoGP's...

Channel 7 will be telecasting the V8's next year so hopeful it will be better . I have never liked 10's telecast & it only got worst after they had to buy it off Foxtel. It also looks like Supercheap could not match Repco's offer for naming rites . It is also hoped 7 has a more even commentary people with an equal number of Ford to Chev likers unlike now were they are manly Holden lovers.

I was reading somewhere the other day that Kia may be interested in joining the category with the 2 door Stinger 2020-kia-stinger-coupe-top-speed-inside-2020-kia-stinger-2-door-scaled.jpg

Interesting, Odd or Funny Pics II.

With what engine? Will they be allowed to run the V6 turbo or will they have to find a dinosaur pushrod V8 to bolt into it?

Will probably be an identical car to the others with a different shell on it anyway I would think?

Also, what happened to the Nissan’s and Mercedes that were in the competition last time I looked? All gone now by the looks of it?

Nissan, Mercs, Volvo, Commodore - I think that the car manufacturers worked out that people will buy something that wins on the track... But not the fake, crappy series that we have...

Win on Sunday, sell on Monday.

If you can’t win - build a better car...

I was there when the highly nobbled GTR R32 won... So they banned it - that was the last race that I went to.

The Gen 3 cars will be a step back in the right direction. Once again the cars will look like what you can buy.

Hopefully GM will get more involved and that Ford Performance stay on-board but it seems GM may drop the Camaro altogether after 2023. D’oh!

But let’s not forget that the Australian series is a sport, employs plenty of people, entertains many more, creates apprenticeship opportunities for young males and females, and does show case some impressive Australian engineering capability. Doesn’t have to be about selling cars.
