No alloy head badge?I thought all XE had them, and maybe early XF, not the update unleaded model?

S pack ran slotted steel wheels, some models, chrome wheel trims, both XE and F.

A view of the front bumper would give it all away.

XE or F definitely, S Packs had a badge on the guard just in front of the door.

I know XFs had alloy heads that were prone to corrosion. Ex wifey had a wagon to cart large paintings around in............ wouldn't fit in any other wagon.

Full reco head (welded, new valves, etc) was 180 wholesale. Must have been a production line somewhere doing the work.

    Got sold for a slab.

Apprentices with time on their hands are a total waste of Employers time & money. In my day, as soon as I got into the workshop at 0800hrs & had hung up my cycle clips I had a 60cm yard Broom shoved into my hands. It was on an old bituminous Floor where saw dust had been spread to soak up yesterday's oil patches & by 'eck it did take some sweeping. Then it was time for the Dunny clean.
The above was not all sweeping but picking up waste off cuts under the Guillotine & crap under the two Lathes & Shaper. Every other day the external Paint shop had to be cleaned & hosed down.

Oh yeah, before the floor near the Benches was swept, any crap from the day before had to be binned, Rags, old bits of gasket Material, Oil & misc crap also including the Solvent parts wash down bench of crap.

Then it was brew time, thank Christ.

Oh yes I have done the hard yards make no mistake.

    Ah Happy Days.

Somewhere I found time to oil all the machines or ensure the Lubricators were filled.

If they did that to apprentices these days, they would only last a week, at the most.

The reason I mentioned A pillar rust is because the panels and more for XDs were stamped in Ford's plant in NW Melby and transported down the Geelong Rd for assembly on open B triples............ the first anyone had seen.

Apparently the lack of (any?) metal treatment and the open journey led to a few issues later on.

I had an XD with a few mods done by the PO who was a motor mech and it was a great car, till it really started to oxidise.

Never gave it a lot of thought to be honest, it was a job that needed doing so it was done. I guess there may have been some crap moments but hey, everbody has them.
We thought we were Arny (or his earlier equivalent).

In fact we were the Bulldog Breed.
