You forgot weeks without power and the freeway which changed direction at different times of the day.

Weeks without Power? Shirley you jest? Not here, own Generator here if it happens, but I suppose you cannot provide proof but if it had occurred it wasn't widespread but I suppose it could always happen with the Victorian/NSW Inter Connector going tits up.

2way freeway? I have always thought it was a bit stupid but somehow it appears to work ok. Never been on it myself so doesn't affect me.

I believe they have fixed the freeway, but seriously...

I have family at Willunga. I was truly amazed, watching people race to beat the cutoff.

The power cuts must have been a figment I guess....

Current repairs to the recent ****ty collapsed roadway walls will take a while for the original "Tender Contractor" (?) to repair them but probably months away at last comment I heard.

Wonder if he/she is back in Italy & will never return?

News Adelaide interstate experts Darlington upgrade concrete wall Dated May 19 2019 WTF!

I suppose the Engineering crowd did leave some fit for purpose drain holes at the foot of the walls? Yeah Mr bee of course they would. Wouldn't they? Those shown appear far too small to cope.
Hands up all those who told the Boss not to dig up the old road & it could be used in an emergency. Thought so, bloody no-one. Just as well he used his nouse then.

It makes one wonder how many serious &/or normal road accidents occurred over the years by motorists to beat the cutoff times.
Must have been some doozy excuses when they reported the prang to the nearest cop shop.

Cop. " Yeah we've heard it all before. Next".

A bit like some roads in the UK with 0ne centre lane which can be used by vehicles traveling in either direction More an overtaking Lane but you gotta be switched on or it was goodnight Charlie.

Hopefully they have been replaced by now & no bright spark in Oz has caught on to this "fantastic Boss", idea noticed by some prat while on a Gubbmint sponsored all expenses paid Traffic Planning educational trip to the UK. .

LOVED that section through Mordialloc ! - AFTER I recovered from my first time.... Girlfriend of tha day gave directions which included this little surproise... the one she "forget" to mention. Of course, having a beige car with a massive steel roo bar - painted in Safari style black and yellow bands may have contributed to survival...
She told me later that crashes were rare, and invariably "minor".

I never had a problem with it. These days it's mainly used by locals, as the Frankston Freeway, and now Peninsula Link bypass it. Ian should try them next time..
