Quite possibly but this was current when folk drove sedately, sensibly & not in a hurry to kill oneself & others & drove flivvers.

Too bloody roight. It does take ages to perfect that thoughtful & pensive look & the sucking of air through teeth that would convince the Head Barperson that one is on top of their game to get the best results.

    I know how you know.

Bugger, I answered the wrong calling.

I recall sitting at the window of the public bar, in the Barkley pub, one hot summer afternoon, with a mate. We'd just returned from a delivery to Gunpowder, miles from Mt. Isa, across the worst corrugated road in Australia.
We were gazing at a Brambles Heavy Haulage crew stripping, repairing and refitting multiple float tyres, in the carpark. My mate casually said "Looks bloody hot out there, eh?"

If the guy behind the bar didn't think he was a Fridgie, and stopped fiddling with them, they would be even better.....Just like the Trawler operators and their freezer systems, but that is another story.

Fixed a lot of those back in the day,750's,needle and seats, bla, bla.Kelvy H,Y,K and T's out the back chugging along near the tank.Great reliable R12 systems.

The only way to tell they were really operating perfectly was to sample the amber liquid
