As 'er indoors would attest I have always wanted to visit there, I don't know why, as I have heard some ropey old stories about the Bosphourus & some residents.
Maybe it is a distant ANZAC connection, or the grub but something was nudging me. Four brothers of my very distant family went to Gallipoli 3 were KIA & the last got a special dispensation to come back being the only remaining Son who could work the Market Gardens here. Still, their names are carved into a small monument at Lenswood[bigsad]
Too late now, ironically we have flown over it several times on the way to the UK but I wasn't aware of it's importance until after we finished our OS travels.
It is no wonder the coast looks like a tip when one considers all the Med rubbish is sucked in & out of the Dardanelles with tides but it shouldn't stop the authorities looking after the joint. You can only imagine the crap in the Med itself also being sucked in & out from the Atlantic/Bay of Biscay.[bigsad]

The Loathe Boat: the honking cruise ships ‘ruining’ Istanbul’s port | Environment | The Guardian
Modern cruise ships are huge. A cousin who is in the navy sent me a picture a few years ago when he was short based in Sydney. He was from memory on the 6 floor in the base and normally had a view of the city from his window. All you could see in the picture he sent was a window in the cruise ship that was parked next to them. Seems it was too big to fit at the cruise terminal and the only place to put it was on the navy base. Of course having thousands of civilians transition g the base from the ship to the city was a security nightmare

A pic from NY Post. That’s the Titanic in the foreground.

A friend of mine has just returned from a cruise - he was on the 11th floor of a 16 floor ship!
I presume you mean Decks.
