John, it sounds like being a Fridgie would be a doddle for you if you care for a change & some real challenges.
"Everywhere" was high on the list. They put plant nurseries where things grow, not where trucks go...

Fridgie? What, gas goes in here, power goes in there and hey presto, cold beer? Sure, I could do that

That you could do, but have you a nice clean Embroidered Shirt? Ah Haaaaaa.

Yeah that locating of Plant Nurseries sounds really **** especially at the end of a Very long haul.

We had one over the road from us for many years but it was on a straight metaled road so Drive in Drive out, but I never did find out how they got on up the hill where there was no room to turn around. Maybe there is a big heap of rigs in the bottom of the Valley, diseasle every where & rusted hulks piled all on top of each other. You'd think the Trucking Co might have noticed the gradual disappearance of their Fleet & started asking questions or having a look at their route. Not to mention the surplus Diseasle that was over at the end of the month. Weird.

Must have a shufti one day.

Sort of OT tale but never the less a true story, re above Nursery.

This Nursery Owner was robbed of heaps of Potted Plants way back in our time here. No, not by me, one hastens to add.

Some one called in a Ute or flat top truck (never did find out) at night. Loaded up with anything removable & took off home.

Next morning the owner could follow the trail of pots along the roads which eventually led to a house owned by a Sgt of Police of ethnic persuasion.

I never did find out the outcome (could have been a put up job for Insurance for all I knew) A pretty clumsy operation no matter who did it.

Anyway, it resulted in the Nursery installing an Alarm System with outdoor Sensors. That was fine until the wind blew & the movement sensors sensed the movement of branches & other foliage & the siren went off, usually early A.M. Bad advice by the Alarm Bloke I reckon.
Anyway he disconnected it & all was quiet again until he installed Speaker driven cordless phone setup. That would go off each incoming call. Full tilt.
He got rid of that & got some screeching Peacocks & they were there until the new owner kept them knowing of the noise problem & didn't care, until he died from a Brain Cancer but of course by then he wasn't too bothered.

Some sucker took the Peacocks to a remote property miles away so it became someone else's problem.

    Just sayin'.

One day John, I'll tell you of my big adventure delivering plants in your neck of the woods. It involved a recovery of and a B double.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Did it in any way involve De Groote's?

The shirt embroiderer and cleaner is no longer with me, sadly. New ones are hard to find at my age.

So I believe & was sorry to hear that. If you get on to Rick I'm sure he or his firm have contacts that could help you out, but not sure about the cleaning aspect. Try Jim's Cleaning & for that matter also Jim's Embroidery.

If you can't win one at your age what possible hope is there for me one day? No No No, that is not a proposal of Marriage simply a passing question, old boy.

( Bee thinks he got out of that one smartly, Pheeeewwww. Wipes brow)

Dunno, but it may have involved a Ferry & the River Murray but that could have been another adventure. Possibly.

That the same ferry I used to use, while driving for De Grootes as it happens, to avoid the weighbridge at Monteith near TB?
