It's like you wash and dry your hands but you still have to grab the handle to pull the door open. How often are these handles cleaned?

It is a big problem here with the doors on the actual toilet stall. In most cases the door hinges inward and barely clears the toilet bowl. Some places that have disabled facilities have a sliding door, but they are few and far between. The entries to most shopping centre toilets do not have ANY door, just a right angled entry. The most off putting thing is that the cleaners are always female and walk into the male toilets without batting an eye!
I'm in favour of that even just for home use. Should be a Standard for this for doors to be hung to swing outwards.
If someone, collapsed in a normal House dunny can you imagine the carry on to retrieve them? CFS would be called to put an axe through the door for the Ambos to haul them out.. Wasting valuable time. Although it would look good on the grave stone "He/she passed relieved".
The frequent use of Public Toilets would make it very difficult keep the hardware spotless & I suspect the warm air discharged from Hand Driers would make a lovely nest for Bacteria to breed so that would also need to be kept spotless. My eldest well qualified Nursing daughter will not use them as the humid air is blown into the face & that can't be good.. Have never looked into the fan assy but I bet there is a lot of dust & crap buildup in the intake & surrounds. I have noticed on later styles that the hands are inserted vertically down & the suction carries the moisture & air discharge into a drain which probably vents to a main drain. 10/10 for that design.
I suppose the doors were originally hung inwards rather that outwards was they wouldn't want lil olde ladies having a sneaky peek into the World of Secret Men's Business activities.![]()
Hi,
I have seen dunny doors with a hinge that will slide out of a retaining pocket to enable the rescue of a collapsed user in the cubicle.
It was in the psych ward of the RHH.
Cheers
I think that is called the ‘Hinze’ modification .
