I think it is an early 2a - or most of it is, anyway, if only because there were a lot more of them built than Series 2. Not that there is anything particularly distinctive between a 2 and a 2a, except that the diesel went from a wet sleeve 2.0 to a sleeveless 2.25. There were more differences between the first and last Series 2 than there were between the last 2 and the first 2a, and even more between the first and last 2as.
And in any case, it would be rare for a Landrover that old to not have a mixture of parts from various vintages!
