I have used Dettol previously, before I discovered that its 'Toxic Shock' effect is extremely painful, residual and lethal to a lot of native animals. For example, a native frog encountering an overspray of Dettol on the ground, will succumb to its effects.
It's also dangerous for cats to come in contact with it. Not that I'll ever have a cat!
There's commercial stuff (supposedly humane) now available.
