    OUR FIRST FRIDGE

I still remember our first refrigerator I was about 7 yrs old when we got it, a name that not many on here will know a Lindberg Foster, it change our family life style for the better, we were able to have home made ice cream , jelly's all year round ice blocks in summer, but the meat safe out side was still used when a sheep or pig was killed. In comparison to today's modern ones it weigh a ton but it served us for years

Bought a new fridge and it is in and running. Went to check both temperature settings and there is a row of lights with a plus and minus button to adjust the temperature. The book says the freezer should be -18 or below. How do I tell? Rang the manufacturer and was told to buy a fridge thermometer. Great!!! Not happy!

You reckon you've got problems, mine keeps running out of kero.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

My 18 year old Westinghouse just died and I bought an LG 450 litre upside down.
Rated at 4.5 stars for energy , and by the ad I saw in the shopping centre the only 4.5 star upside down in Australia.

I asked the salesman whether people bought fridges on energy efficiency and he said no, basically on reliability reputation. He recommended LG over Samsung .
Interesting that it runs on LPG gas.

Also has a "linear inverter motor" which sound s to me like an Engel!LOL

BTW my LPG loaded aircon in the D2 has not blown up yet and still cold after 3.5 years.
    Regards Philip A

Not many don't run that gas, which isn't actually LPG,it is some cocktail of LPG products, that is flammable.
Westinghouse were using it for over 17yrs ago.

They are going to gradually start using it some small commercial cabinets as well soon.

Not for me. Had one fail inside four years a number of years ago and it was something that was inside/attached to something else (possibly defrost timer that was part of the heater???) and they no longer made them!!!

Had to replace the fridge downstairs recently for visitor use as the small LG stopped. Bought a Westinghouse (when you're on a good thing... ) which are now made in Thailand according to the sticker on the inside. Will see how it goes.

Mother had a 'Sovereign' that must have been over 30 years old when it finally died in my house. (She moved to Old Folks Home)

    - And our kero fridge on the farm worked perfectly, until it grew too small... - Then they replaced it with a new-fangled kero/electric model that lasted forever.
