I went away at Christmas and camped near the Barmah Forrest. About a week later I woke up one morning and could not get out of bed without fainting from pain. Swollen joints. Horrible rash etc. Where we stayed they had plenty of mozzies and signs warning about Barmah Forrest virus.

Got the results from blood test yesterday. Was expecting Barmah forest virus.... nope ....positive for Ross River Fever. Still have painful swollen and stiff joints but it's getting better slowly. Seems to come and go.

From what I understand most cases resolve in 6 - 8 weeks, much longer for some.

What fun! I should buy shares in nurofen I think. My other half is a GP and she looked at the drug they are using in the Australian drug trial for RRF treatment. It's currently already
used to treat something else. She says not for me due to potential side effects and given that I am getting better anyway.

I hope you find something that helps.
