Well - the car has been sold to someone else (for $22K) so I have to start looking again. Not much out there at the moment with a tray and lots of mods, so will just have to be patient.
Thanks for all the comments.
There will always be another one - and probably better !!!

Hmmm.. just another carsales dreamer. You'll probably have to leave them for 6 months until they "come to the market" . I have seen it take a year though.Originally posted by spudboy

I worked for telstra fleet untill 1999, and at that point we didn't have any defenders. I'm a little sus on all this. If it really is a telstra vehicle, check for fading where the stickers were, and for tyre pressures being painted on. I really can't see them holding it until it had 200k on it. Something is fishy. If you are actually going to buy it, send me a PM and I could maybe get it checked for you
They also go the extra mile when it comes to quality of fittings for OH&S though.

Well someone else jumped in in front of me, so it's gone. Might be a good thing 'cause I was wondering what issues I would get with a 200,000Km vehicle. He accepted $22K for it, which I thought was fair.
I think the Telstra mods would have been 1st class (as in - open cheque book, get it done properly).
The guy selling it was the owner after Telstra. I am sure they would have quit the car once it got to 100,000Km.
There's not much else like it about though. I really like the Extra cab + Canopy layout. Am thinking of a normal 130 now, but they don't seem to be as good off the road due to their increased wheelbase & rear overhang.
All I can do is keep looking. Something will come up.
Matt, Oz diesel is Euro spec now.Originally posted by rick130

It's all below 50ppm sulphur, this is why we are seeing all the latest euro common rail diesels in cars.
BP's fuel also exceeds a cetane rating of 50.
In our vehicles that usually do lots of miles each trip, we are exceeding 20,000km OCI's easily. This milage, oil and filters has been determined through lab testing, not guesswork. A sample of some of my Nissan Patrol tests are here The soot level in this indirect injected engine at this distance is only 0.8%.
If you were doing very short trips each day and the engine never got warm, maybe a 5,000km OCI would make sense, but a blanket recommendation for that milage is a bit of overkill.[/b][/quote]
Call me paranoid but i will always change my oil at 5000km. You must also remember that the manufacturers intervals are based on on road driving, add off roading to the mix and extra load on the engine and that reduces intervals aswell.
I know diesel is better now but i just could stomach leaving my oil in the disco for any more than 5000km. Matt
