    Crowdfunding websites?

Im in the forming stages of seting up a sporting club in my home town, and we need plenty of funds for getting the equipement needed. I've been considering crowdfunding for at least some of it, but I've never had anything to do with it before. Looking through various websites they all charge for the service in various ways so was just curious if anyone here has had anything to do with crowdfunding and has any suggestions on what to look out for?

Not sure exactly what you are looking for here. A loan or donation?

If is for people to donate you need someone good at marketing the request to those who would be inclined to give. Done right and with a clearly set out objective and reason why it can work. Consider what the total costs are including marketing which will be an additional cost then you can make an informed choice as you know what you are risking financially.

Loans can also work have seen loans for a couple of thousand to millions organised via crowd funding. Need to understand the particular organisation you are approaching as each crowd funding organiser had a market they cater for. Once again there are costs so make sure you understand all of them before making a decision

Just spend time getting yourself registered as a non profit first, you don't want to get taxed like crazy etc. Talk to your accountant etc.

    But indiegogo, Pozible, ozcrowd

    Kris here.

I have used gofund.me before, and have found it pretty easy to use. Unlike crowdfunders like Kickstarter, money pledged is given to you regardless as to whether you hit your target goal.

They do take a small commission (although I can't remember how much it is off the top of my head, something like 3%?) Money appears in your nominated count by 7 days.

Mainly just looking at donations from people in the community that would like to see the venture go ahead.
