    Bpay booby-trap for some payments..

Bpay is often touted as being a 'modern' convenient and safe way to pay your bills etc.

But, if you leave it to the last week before a time-critical payment is due, you could be in for a rude shock...

Even if you paid your 'rego' a couple of days ago, it may be that it hasn't 'arrived' and been processed in your favour...

I'd forgotten about one of the fleet, due on Saturday 4th... paid around 1 PM Friday 3rd. Wasn't using it over the week-end so was not concerned.

But today, MONDAY 6th, mid - afternoon - it still shows up on WA Transport website as being 'un-registered'.

Checked with my bank, and yes, the money had instantly exited my account on Friday, - and she cheerfully informed me that payees can take up to FOUR business days to... "receive" the funds.

    - What is the point of using THEIR recommended form of payment, if it can take up to FOUR business days to go through ?

(I'd feel safer with FIVE days, or at least a calender week... )

-- Even with AUSPOST being as slow as it is.... posting a cheque (?) or your credit-card details would be quicker !!!
Your phone-in credit card might be safer....along with the bank fees & charges...

Even paying in person might not be 100% safe, as the copper who's just pulled you over can only reference back to 'The Database', which may still be tardy in receiving your payment.

Methinks it's a Conspiracy to catch our the close-to-date payers, usually the less wealthy population.

    Hi,
An email with a screen capture of the payment should cover it. I've done this a few times for overdue notices when I've missed a payment.
Masking any of my account numbers for security ofcourse.
    Cheers

I think payments have to be in their account by the due date, it's just like you employer putting your wages into your account, you would not be happy if your employer put in your wages in on pay day and you had to wait 4-5 days for it to clear. So that's why the employer processes your pay days before.
Same a council rates, if you wait until the last day to pay them electronically then they would probably be deemed to be over due and charge you interest for late payment.? Tax office GST payments they are due on a day, I always make sure they have the funds in by that date.
    I could be wrong though

Takes a few days to go through but is always backdated to the day that you make the Bbay payment.

Payments on our system at work take a few days from when the payment is made to when it is processed onto the account but it is always credited to the date the payment is made.

No conspiracy just that the systems haven't evolved since their creation or at least so it seems (used to work in banking).

Personally I pay all my bills by credit card and wear the fees. If paid online Dept of Transport gives the option to send an email receipt in the absence of a rego sticker which is handy to have avaliable on the mobile phone for 'just in case'.

I set up my rate payments in advance to be paid on the due date, even if it's a Sunday. Haven't been charged late payment fee ever. I actually do this with a number of my regular bills.
