    Spudboy's ally painting thread has prompted me to ask - what's the best method for painting stainless steel?

    By far the easiest is to use the method that de Lorean used on their cars....
    It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

    Stuff called ESP is supposed to be good... Never used it for that myself but it works well on other things

    I used heavy S/S mesh to make an industrial grade wooden flyscreen door.(cedar) The shiny S/S looked awful, so I decided to paint it with satin black. After cleaning with wax and grease remover, I put on a coat of penetrol. Next day, the first of two coats of satin black with about 15% penetrol added. It came up very well and has lasted so far about three years of the occasional dog scratch without any silver bits showing through.

    I might give this a go. I only need to paint some stainless wingtop vents, so thought the right place might powder coat it for a cheap enough price.
