Just making some small mounting plates for switching etc...

First machine purchased and using as a learning tool before upgrading to a significantly more expensive machine.

This unit is a Trinus3D with a few upgrades already and will be looking for a 4 head unit with a significantly larger print area as the next unit.

One thing I will say to anyone...

Get some quality slicer software - many are very inefficient or lack configuration and this has a big impact on:
    - Print quality
    - Print Time
    - Filament consumption

Especially when doing support structures and detail work.

I have tool paths set to go quickly for inner structures and slower for a more refined outer face on my builds.

Support structures are also important when printing and inefficient designs lead to time and material waste.

    I agree Tombie.
Just like with most prototyping, it is critical to think how the item is to be manufactured when designing 3D Print items. Designing for minimising support structure, orientation to minimise impact of strength loss along print layers and management of warping is critical.

The radio and gauge surrounds in my Stage 1 have been designed, printed, spray puttied to cover imperfections, then painted.

The printer is also great to knock out switch surrounds or spacers for all sorts of projects. Much quicker than shaping out of metal or searching around town or online for suitable parts.....

    Cheers,
    Chris

I post this as an insight of just what can be done with a 3D printer:
