I know a bloke whose married an Indonesian wife who already had a child. He's a rough as bloke to talk with, but he really cares for this new family. There certainly are successful marriages. Not all the failures are the fault of the woman either. I have seen examples in which the man just wanted a submissive sex slave and housekeeper, which may be why he had failed to find one in Australia and looked overseas.
Incidentally it can go the other way. I know an American woman happily married to a Thai man and an Australian woman married to a man from Burma. Both couples have produced stunning daughters.
