    Damn Land Rover Auistralia

Well it appears they have been up to their old tricks again.
Down to the local Land Rover dealer here in Bundaberg & up to the parts counter like dozen of times before,,,,

me-- Can I please have 1 centrfugal oil filter for the d2 please mate ??

Dealer -- sorry mate since we got taken over at the start of the month we are no longer the Land Rover dealer, they took it off us

me-- so what about all the spares

dealer-- we packed them all up & sent them back to Land Rover

me-- so where has the dealership gone too

dealer-- nowhere.... your nearest dealer is 3.5 hours away in Mooroochydore

me-- !@#$%^&*()!@#$%^&*()!@#$%^&*()!@#$%^&*()) Thanks for !@#$%^&*()!@#$%^&*() nothing.

There appears to be no listing for an after market centrafugal oil filter, so does everyone else use genuine????
Has anyone ever sent an email to L/R australia & got any where with their complaint ???

And do use the genuine one, there have been too many hassles with non-genuine.

Just to reinforce Richard - Stay with genuine...my Land Rover man has had a heap of trouble with non genuine and has sent them all back. Not worth the risk for a few extra dollars.

Gidget, having dealt with both dealers you mention, we will both be driving further than 3.5 hours to find a decent one.

What annoys me that if Ford are pulling the dealerships, is that they need to transfer the parts supply straight to the local Ford dealer, so their service and parts network is still available. by not doing so they are just annoying people more. At a minimum in major centres there should be at least a parts supply (even if it is a Ford dealership) if not a LR dealership. Having said that if they do so in Kalgoorlie I will mail order my parts as I refuse to deal with the morons in the local Ford/Nissan dealership.
LAND ROVER AUSTRALIA IT IS JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO RESTRICT PARTS SUPPLY.

I will never understand why they are doing it. They say they are marketing the Land Rover as a "premium" product, yet they sell the defender! A model which would best be marketed at country areas NOT IN THE CITY!!!!! Matt

The premium product statement by LR is one of the biggest crocks I have heard. A car companies goals are to sell as many cars as possible. Cars like the Porsche GT3's, Lamboghini's, Ferrari's are premium products and command the respect. LR all in all are average products, sometimes below average and will never command a premium tag. Even the Rangies dont come close, just look at the resale values. They should be targetting the average 4x4 buyer and target the RR as the premium product for the marque. A Defender would never even get close. I think they are losing their heritage or Ford as new owners are trying to destroy it. Either way they need to get back down towards the entry level 4x4 area as the pricing of the D3 is way over the top, very nice piece of kit though it is. Could not believe the price of the new supercharged Rangie at $173,000. Oh well I guess in 5 or 6 years I may be able to pick one of these up for $20k. That is another area LR need to address if they want to be a premium vehicle. Premium vehicles attract good resale values and at the moment LR Disco's and Rangie's would have to be one of the worst resale values.
