Sold my Disco this morning - boo hoo

Well the love of my life has departed me this morning. I have sold my Disco and she is going to a new home in Tamworth If you see an agean blue disco with wheel arch protectors and after market wheels up there - give here a flash and let her know I still care for her. sob sob

I bought her on an emotional whim, sight unseen before the Disco 1 updates were even released and and have maintained her better than a Toorak tractor for all those years. At least I think she is going to a good home and will be used to travel around Australia.

So I am now left with my Freelander - with the benefit of hindsight, I shouldn't have bought the Freelander in 2004 but sold the Disco then, when prices were better and bought a D2 TD5 - but at that stage I was going to keep the Disco and use the Hippo as the run around car. As things turned out I have only covered 2500km in the Disco during that time so it was best to let her go.

I am now in a quandary about what to buy in the future because the Freelander is getting long in the tooth (200,000Km), still runs well but is not capable enough offroad to be adventurous - my recovery vehicle will have be a Triton or a Hilux on skinny tyres - how embarrassing. The Freelander is good at getting into places but can have trouble getting back out if slow, steep hills are involved.

While I like the capability of the D3, its looks don't do much for me, and its cost is a bit much - maybe a second hand RR Sport in the future or even the new big version of the Freelander if it is a proper offroader.

    Decisions, decisions

I am over it now - did I have a Disco 1? - might now look for a relatively low mileage D2 to suffice until I get my RRs.

Did a search on the web - 2001 D2 manual with 120,000km $18,990. Me thinks what is wrong with it - the CDL issue might be an issue too.

D2 up for auction with 75000k - might be worth a look.

But - I need to get my E-type on the road first.

That is a car that knows how to suck in the money.

$18990 is a bargain for a DII with that many Km's, i assume its a TD5. If it is snap it up, 12mnths ago when i was looking there wasnt a TD5 disco forsale with less that 180000km for anything under 30k. Thats cheap. Matt

You have to be looney to play around with jags - they are the only car I know that can out landrover a landrover - they can leak oil better than landies, they can use petrol better than landies and they can be more cantankerous - oh and they rust better than landy chassis outriggers.

But like landies, they can be fun.

You guys mustn't treat your cars right

I had a MII Jag as our only family car for about 8 years from 1986 to 94
only problem I remember was a broken valve spring. Must have done Bris-Syd-Bris a dozen times or more
