    Television "Ädvertising"?!

Decided to watch the Stallone movie "Cobra" on & Mate this evening, then decided after about half an hour that I couldn't put up with the ads,...10 mins movie, 4min 40 secs ads, 10.5 mins movie, 4.5 mins ads, 10 mins movie etc,....couldn't put up with it, so I've taped it.

Not just movies. Was watching TV with the kids, they were watching a kids channel and timed 20 minutes of straight adds between the shows which were themselves 15 minutes long.

We decided to try that "catch up" thingy or whatever it's called, bloody hell it's annoying, they suck you in for the first 20 or minutes then the adds get longer and the show get less in time, to the point where the last lot of adds were 1.30 minutes before the end of the program

Hear we were thinking "great no more recording" what a joke

Very rarely watch anything "live" on TV any more these days, except for the ABC. Even SBS is becoming almost as bad as the crappy commercial channels as far as advertising time / content is concerned.

We can record up to five shows simultaneously on different channels while watching either a sixth channel or playing back a previously recorded show at the same time - though I have never found any reason to fully use this capability and record any more than two or three at the same time.

It's not just the number / frequency / duration of the ads that ****es me off - it is the fact that many of them are just stupid and seem to be designed to gain the attention of the complete ****wits in our society.
    Cheers .........

Although most consider everything that is NOT the actual show is an ad, I am led to believe that "self promotion" does not count in the official tally for the amount of ads that can be shown in any timeframe. This includes promos for up and coming shows (eg. MKR, news, etc.)
