Hi all

I decided to go for a drive yesterday with the aim of going up to O'Reillys for a bush walk/picnic. I should have done some research!

I had no idea of the damage that the recent heavy rains had done to the roads behind Beenleigh and surrounding areas. My plan was to drive up the bitumen to O'Reillys then come back down Duck Creek Road. About 6kms outside Canungra and the road was closed. I was told by the traffic controllers that there was a 10km stretch of road up the mountain that was damaged by mud slides.

The Traffic Controller also stated that Duck Creek Road was severally damaged, has been fenced off and may never be repaired.

I turned around and decided to check this out myself so I drove around to Beaudesert and down the Kerry Road to the Duck Creek Road turn off. Sure enough there was a fence and a road closed sign at the end of the bitumen. I could have driven around it, but not worth a fine.

So home I went!
