Is there a power divider between the two back diffs? It doesn't seem to have load sharing suspension.
Interesting Defender parked on the building site next door today.
Isuzu engine, Rover diff at the front, Ford in the middle and Salisbury at the back.

If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
The two axles seem to have normal coil suspension with no load sharing. There is a very substantial addition to the chassis around the rear axles.
What is a power divider? There is a tailshaft back to the rear diff.
The owner was a roof tiler and I managed to catch him as he was making up a new batch of mortar for the ridge capping. He was happy to chat about the vehicle, but I didn't want to keep him from his job for too long.
Apparently it started life as a County. The rear diff has a diff lock, but I don't know how many of the other diffs are locked.
I think he has finished the job and has left.

I wonder if you get windup between the two axles driving on sealed roads.

As panels etc are bolt-pop rivet on could it have started life as an Army 6wd, they ran the Isuzu 3 litre motor and 4 speed box.

A power divider is sort of like a CDL - shares the drive equally between two diffs in a bogie drive setup. You can also have diff locks (on each diff) or a combined power divider/ diff lock system commonly called cross-locks. Lots of fun trying to steer a bogie drive truck with the cross-locks in![]()

The owner said it was stronger than the Perentie setup.
It was a civilian build done at Narooma or Nowra. (Short term memory problem.) Both towns are nearby and I have forgotten which one he said.
He was just doing the finishing touches on the new house next door, so I didn't have a lot of time to talk to him.
