Call me a sceptic But it does seem a bit Odd that soon after buying a truck that obviously needed some TLC for your means of transport you are suddenly donating it to charity as long as it gets fixed up and you are canvassing the forum for support.
I hope I am wrong here But from my perspective a new member of a forum doing this sort of thing and expecting "Freebies" from strangers doesn't come across too well.
No scam, Elias and his family are in Australia for three months secondment, for his wife's employer.
Elias joined the forum before leaving California.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

trout1105 - i can appreciate where youre coming from. there probably are some people who would try to pull a thing like that off... get free ****, take the money and run... as it were. Thats not me. In fact, i have a 4x4 guide book on the way to me (mostly shooting distances from syd) but ill be looking to meet some of the guys on here and i think you should come out time permitting to shake hands... per the 35 posts in 11 years, cant deny that statistic, but i am a permanent resident of the US and you can probably see that my eyes are elsewhere, practically.

So to dispel any mythology... i am in fact here, in Sydney. The idea to do this was only as fresh as the news itself is to me and our host family. And i've said this many different ways in many different arenas... working on cars is really hard. It sucks almost. Ask any tech for an honest answer. Day in day out, yanking motors, doing top ends, ghost diagnostics, hours of contortion... for a living. Walks a fine line almost killing the joy of it. what keeps me going is not just working on cars... its working on THESE cars... working for THIS community. And at the end of the day, if my work can offer someone relief, a smile, some thrills, and in this case if i can do some GOOD with the skillset i have, you better damned be sure im gonna do it when something crosses my way.

And yes, nobody here really knows me from a hole in the wall. I realize this project is VERY ambitious. but im hoping that as folks here meet me and realize im not criminally insane, we can get this done and all see something good come of a collective effort... I hope that helps part the clouds some. and as the weeks go by, i hope to see you out on the trail. i know youre in western australia... but i'll prob have an empty passenger seat and wouldnt mind a co-driver. e

All is Good Mate and Good on you for having a go at this.
There is so much "Dodgy" stuff going on over social media and the internet I can't help but be cautious these days.

i dont blame you and i anticipated fair skepticism with this. there were a few fly by night guys on some of the US forums claiming to be fabricators or breakers.... pocketed lots of money and vanished. But anyway, i appreciate the support and look forward to making something happen. cheers and thanks, e
