I am not a collector, but appreciate good quality knives. I had a "Buck" folding knife that I used to carry when flying helicopters in the bush. Some low life pinched it in Bangkok while the ***** was cleaning the air con in my bedroom. He left the leather pouch, so I did not notice it was gone for a week or so.
In my farming days I had a good quality curved butchers knife for dressing out sheep, also gone Buddha only knows where!

I carry the smaller Mnandi at work. Earns its keep cuting my lunch, cartons, jiffy bags, pallet wrap and strapping, and looks damn good doing it, if I don't say so myself. It's tough but unassuming. Looks like a pen when clipped to my pocket.
The larger of the two is a Emerson Knives 'Roadhouse' model. The knives from this maker are a favourite of the US armed forces, due to their rugged construction and interesting chisel grind on the blade. Idea is they are very field servicable, and the chisel grind can allow a capable edge to be ground with limited tooling, while having a greater material mass behind the edge to make a stronger cutting edge.
The other real cool thing about the Emerson knives is the wave feature which allows it to open itself while being withdrawn from a pocket- faster than any automatic knife, flipper, or spring assist.

I don't collect but have a Katz skinner that I used in a previous life.
I used to have SOG Power Pliers, the original ones with the standard pliers but left them on the back of the Defender one day. [emoji22]
And someone on a job decided they needed my Ka-Bar more than I did.
Neither have ever been replaced.

I like the Lansky knife sharpening system Lansky Sharpeners - Professional Knife Sharpening Systems & Kits but in the last few years I've been using the razor/paint scraper blades for opening boxes, packets, cutting hose pipe, etc. They are very sharp and cheap as chips. In the army I lent my Swiss knife to a millwright, who to repay the favour sharpened it for me, it was was so sharp, that when I cut the tip off a tube of silicon, it cut right into my thumb!
It might not have been anything special , but I think I have somehow lost my opinel pocket knife 👿
I have had it for years . I’m used to not having cash in my pockets but without the knife , oh so empty.
I have a few Schrade Old Timer pocket knives which I have had for decades.
I find that they are reasonably good quality and hold their edge rather well.

I was impressed with the carbon steel Opinels I have. Very simple, and nice to use. I keep a No:8 Opinel in the picnic kit.
I don't have a big collection, I have a folding buck as my walk around, a openel somewhere but my prized piece is a yak skin covered Kukuri I picked up in Nepal.
