BB, We got about 60-70mm in a bit over an hour and a half last night and then no more. Depends on whose rain gauge you read with the lowest being 62mm. Have not seen rain here like that in a few years. Moved rocks the size of rockmelons onto the roads not to mention guide post and logs. What a mess around town this morning debris on all the roads.

Best thing about having rain in Hedland is the lack of hills, cause when it does rain we have no risk of wash outs.Quote:

sorry one hill, man made one called Redbank, its so the cars can drive over the rail line, biggest bump around town.
BUT
Flash flooding on the highway is normal
Road closurers that last for weeks is not unheard of
having to fly in and out food and water is also a problem
But havnt seen anything like that for ages
So with 3 months of cyclone season to go maybe this was our warning.
