This involved a round trip of a couple of thousand klms, but worth it for the peace of mind. It is, without any doubt, one of the best buying decisions i ever made! (Thanks Lou & Ian)

I've felt your pain RaZz0R, the disappointment if not the inconvenience.
Honest people can appear naive as they think everyone is as honest as them. This is particularly so within a 'family' like community such as AULRO.
I bought an engine, gearbox and transfer case from a member. I drove the vehicle before the components were removed and paid for them on the spot. My mechanic's, Blknight.aus, offer to assist in the removal was declined.
When delivery was eventually made to Dave there were parts missing and damaged. The seller tried to blame Dave. I know Dave well enough to be confidant that if he had done it, he would have immediately 'fessed up and presented a rectification.
I onsold the motor to another member, who had replacements for the damaged and missing bits, at a small financial cost.
On the other hand, I have sent parts interstate, on trust of payment or return, to another member (coincidentally Lou too) without issue.

Julie won the Best Lady Driver trophy at Melrose this year in "Slow-Mo", and we did the Birdsville Track, and Big Red too.

When I sold my P38A, I was very reluctant to sell it on forum in case something went wrong. I'd feel guilty if it did. I haven't heard back from the buyer so I hope it's still motoring along.

I have another interest other than my D2 and that is collecting coins.
Yes I know coin collecting is a bit "Odd" But then so is owning a Landrover

Many coins are traded, sold and bought on some coin forums and to date I haven't had or seen any problems arise out of any of these transactions in the seven years that I have been involved with a couple of coin forums.
I'm not talking "Facelick" here, That is a whole different kettle of fish.
From my take of things it is highly unusual that a long term member of a forum would do anything untoward regarding a trade.

The OP's problem IS unfortunate But I would like to think that it is also quite rare that this sort of problem would arise here.

    Thumbs up

Look the guy has come through with some help and I am not up for name shaming unless I am totally been done over which I don't think is the case just yet.
As such I am trying to not give too much away.

But as I said, some help has come about so I might be fine
