Saturday night, eh. Sunday morning police news is always full of reports of drunks trying to prove they are super humans and failing.
My son was out last night and was witness to this. A P plater with over loaded passengers, (Red Ps, the law says 1 passenger, he had 4) My son met him at the lights, the p plater floored it and then 2 intersections later found the car hit a pole. Occupants were drunk and had drugs on board. These are the spankers we share the road with. Lucky no one was killed. Son then lost a couple of hours assisting police as a witness.

You are one the same wave length as me Eevo, I'm a hanging judge when it comes to this sort of behavior. Having lost 2 very close people in fatalities through no fault of their own by being at the wrong place at the right time. It makes me angry there are those out there doing this sort of stuff! Wait until the do gooders start and justify their behavior, comments like young guys just having a good time, letting off a bit of steam. That's ok, kill them selves elsewhere if they so desire, but don't do it on shared roads with other people who are sensible.
My son said they were doing in excess of 100kph in the 70 zone prior as they flew past him, and across the road from the impact point , there is a 7/11 store, one of the vehicles lights was in the car park,
Seems to be a fatal attraction between that kind of behaviour, poles & trees.

As I have commented before - alcohol features in a ridiculously large proportion of fatal accidents. And want to take any bets that this accident is classified as being due to speed?
Certainly speed seems to have been a factor, but alcohol and other drugs would certainly seem to be the principal factors behind the speeding, as well as the loss of control.

Driving at speed requires concentration, add alcohol and drugs into impairment into the equation and this sort of stuff happens. On the news tonight they showed footage of the police blitz on the weekend on drug testing motorists in the Chapel street areas, and the numbers detected was alarming. Even saw a white RR evoque being flat beaded. Scarey that we have to share the roads.
Back in the 70's we used to gauge the distance by the amount of stubbies that was needed to complete the trip, That was the mindset back then and Thankfully this sort of attitude is slowly disappearing.
The way that people have been educated about drink driving over the last 5 decades there is absolutely NO valid excuse for this sort of behaviour these days and anyone using drugs needs a good flogging anyway regardless of if they are driving or not.
Lets hope these particular Morons get the book thrown at them and also charged with possession as well, Ignorant thoughtless Bastards.
