I know it won't change the mind of anyone who genuinely believes they have seen an enormous cat, but the brain can be very easily tricked into misjudging the size of an object.

This very simple illusion demonstrates how easily we can be fooled. What appears to be the relative size of the two green lines in this image?

You're a Queenslander. Ever drunk rum, or XXXX, or however you guys spell beer? You've self medicated. In those days, mine was more likely to be smoke. Probably from Queensland...

Like you John, 30+ years ago I saw a big cat near mt Bogong that makes me think that rumour had at least some basis in fact.... so why not this one too....
Mark, mine was closer. It was between Avonsleigh and Emerald, on the back roads. I nearly hit it. If I had I'd be famous. I don't know what it was, but I know it wasn't any dog.

Identical. It's a little different when it's there in your headlights, though.

That sort of lighting makes it even more difficult to judge distance and therefore even more likely that you will misjudge the size.

Well, I posted that in Walrus at 12.38. MODS must have been asleep. In any case , I'll post this here.

True, but as I said in reply to Mark, I nearly hit it. Pretty sure it wasn't some moggy out looking for scraps.
