Quick tip!
It's not a quick update process. Make sure you have plenty of time from downloading the tool to setting up the USB thumbdrive to installing the update.
I reckon the 'update' took close on an hour or so.
Looks like it's reinstalling Windows fresh, but as long as you have the 'keep files' option enabled, it's an update.
It'll probably be a fresh install if you don't enable the 'keep files' option.
PC rebooted about 3 x during the update, very slow to update whilst in the pre boot menu.
Then once the PC has fully booted, you get into the log in screen and almost ready for Windows .. you're back into a config screen.
Config to enable/disable some privacy settings. I turned them all off(enabled by default).
Then you DON'T!! ... get into Windows again, as it then installs more 'updates'
So a few more mins of updates, which I think must be the 'Creator' features such as the 3D drawing tools and stuff, as when the PC finally boots and allows you to use it, a window describing the new features is what you first see.
Only annoyance for me is the incessant infestation that software vendors think they have a right to allow themselves on your personal space.
They added a 'Mail' tool in the taskbar.
I did delete it, as I use Thunderbrid for my mail.
For me, the only obviously noticable change is the new Security/Defender tool.
In settings you now get a new Gamebar feature. I just delved into it to turn all that carp off. (not a gamer).
Otherwise it's pretty much as it was.
I had a bit of a play with the #d Builder tool a while back and found it was 'fun' for a few seconds or so, as I'm not really into building 3D worlds or things.
But I'll have a look at the 3D Paint program when I get a chance at some time.
The other point to note about doing the update via the MediaCreationTool is that if at some point later down the track you require a reinstall due to whatever reason, if you install using your original media you're back as square1, and need to do the updates all over agaiin.
At least with the MCT method, you'd have an updated system to start with for any re-install, and then only the smaller incremental updates/patches to annoy.
Arthur.
All these discos are giving me a heart attack!
