Must be a big one John.
My son has now been on the road between Canberra and Yass for just over three hours. The Barton Highway northbound is closed by a fatal just short of the Yass exit. His first two attempts at alternative routes (Dog Trap Rd and Yass River Rd) have been turned back, and he is now on the way to Gunning, but at least he is moving, unlike the traffic on the Barton Hwy.
The accident apparently happened about 3.30pm, and police have told him the road is expected to be closed overnight.

I came home via Merryville and dog trap at about 18:00 tonight. There was a fatal on what looked to be very close to the Yass exit off the Barton Hwy, The truckies reckoned that the Police investigators were not likely to arrive before 19:00 so it will be closed for a while yet.

He tried that route about 3/4 hours later, and they had it blocked off at the intersection with Dog Trap, turning anyone back not livving on Dog Trap.
