Your lot are even older than mine. My father's side has been traced to 1243.
SWMBO is descended from an uncle of William. She refers to him as cousin Willy. She also reckons she has a better claim to the throne of England than Betty and her mob of German usurpers. The family were Channel Islands nobility for centuries. Typical, no money, all hat and no cattle. My rellies were from Nordjylland in Danmark. Honest merchants, farmers, and seafarers. Probably had a team with Harald Hardrada.

I'm hanging on to the pommy passport too if it helps keep me out of that big house in Canberra
Mark, one of the great disappointments in my life was this: My sister, who is 10 years older than me, had a Passport that identified her as a British Subject, and I couldn't get one. Being a British Subject has far more attached to it than just getting fast tracked through immigration at Heathrow. If I had a British Passport I would hang onto it as hard as I could. It is without doubt the best Passport you can hold, and it is sad that Gough threw it away in 1973 with his Queen of Australia Act.

OK. My Great Grandmother was half Indian but I've only spent two weeks in the US and none of it was in Kentucky. Honest.
    Cheers, Billy.

Until you drew focus, johntins, I'd missed the uncanny likeness between the skipper and the colonel

One of her titles is Queen of Australia.
Ironically, our Head of State is disqualified from election to our Federal Parliament because she is a dual citizen.
But she could be elected to state parliaments as they allow dual citizens.
    Go figure...
