    Can I borrow your Landrover?

That's what a mate asked me. He was pruning a couple of km of grapes. He needed it for a weekend to cart the prunings to where they're going to burn them.
    "Yes." I said, of course.

Three weeks later, I asked how he was going with the job. "I can see why you like that Landrover so much." he replied.

A further three weeks later, I called around to his place. "I need to use the Landrover on the weekend."
"Yes." he said, "You can borrow it."

I'm sitting here, feeling a little confused. Why did I drop the Landrover back at his place?

    A) Hiding it from Mummsie.
You can't fit it in your yard.
    C) He keeps it in a shed.
    D) All of the above.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

I once lent my restored mini to a mate... Months later when it came back, it wasn't the same.. Sometimes it doesn't pay to be nice...

Never lend anything unless your prepared to not get it back . ( Especially tools & money)

I'd never be so daft as to lend a LandRover

    Send him the rego bill.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

I've often had friends ask if they can borrow my chainsaw & I always reply "yes ........... but it comes with me as the operator".

It occurs to me that most of these replies seem to put LRs in a similar category to wives.

I was going to mention that old saying about chainsaws and wives being the two things you never, ever loan.
