I often have people ask to borrow my ride on mower.
I too say not a problem, Just bring your lawn over and I will mow it for you

    Hmmmm......

Well, this thread hasn't gone where I expected it to. I find it rather sad.
The mate I lent my Landrover to, I'd lend it to him again, in a heartbeat.

That is, of course, assuming I get it back.
I may have to borrow it for Wombat.

Back in the 'day' a man would share his cigarettes, but never his pipe.

There was some loose association made with the above, with respect to mistresses and wives from memory.

Anyway, I had a bad experience lending a chainsaw to a bunch of mates 30 years ago and that is my no go.

    cheers, DL

I have leant many things, and will always lend to help someone out of a bad situation. But, if someone needs tools, or power tools, just to do their stuff, then why can't they buy their own? Then they can experience for themselves what it's like when they neglect to put oil in the chain tank, or use straight petrol in a two stroke, or hit a nail or stone with their chainsaw, or run a mower with a broken blade, or use a screwdriver as a chisel, or a level as a hammer, or a myriad of other transgressions without the luxury of having someone else to pay for it, namely me. All those things have happened to me.
