    Moving To Sunshine Coast

    Hello All,

I am looking at moving to the Sunshine Coast in the next month or two.

    Will be renting accommodation.

What's it like for getting work?

    Cheers,

    Chilly

    Guess any in the beginning.

My trade is a car mechanic. Although not done this job for many years....still worked on cars over that time.
Have worked in the food industry for many many years. Doing different jobs from running machines, managing a shift. Worked in R and D. On new product development. Including putting product into factory. How to make sure it is food safe....sterile.
Worked in QA and the office on assignments. Last few years in the factory running various equipment. Maintaining and repairing as necessary. Including welding Stainless. Also was part of the team that put the new to us in Australia microwave Rice line in. I helped install the packing end and getting it up and running.
Happy to try anything. New area new start!

"Sunshine Coast" is not a suburb or even a town, it's a big area stretching from roughly Nambour/Caloundra to equally roughly Gympie/Noosa, including hinterland towns and villages.
Most industries, with the exception of heavy manufacturing, are represented in the area. Obviously, tourism is the pinnacle. Land Rover is well represented by British Off Road at Forest Glen.http://www.britishoffroad.com/

If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Popped into BOR a few times. Last year blew turbo hose whilst coming back from Alice direction. Picked up a couple from them and replaced in there yard. Have holidayed on the Sunshine Coast many times. Not narrowed down t an area to live yet...hence renting. May depend on where I can find work.

Thanks for the information regarding work..I did not think heavy industry was done there but was unsure. Happy to do anything...need to earn some dollars.

    Chilly,
If you've got food industry maintenance experience, especially stainless welding, you might think about knocking on the door of the ginger factory at Yandina or the Nut works over the road. I thought there was a dairy going in somewhere between Imbul and Gympie but that might be a bit too north of the "Sunshine Coast".

    Cheers.
