You need to change your accountant and lawyer. Using the advantages available to them under the Income Tax Assessment Act self-employed and farmers can avoid tax unless they are earning a prodigious income.

Exactly, over the years they have gradually closed many,or probably most of the old loop holes.

I have been in business almost 30yrs,used a few different accountants,so i have a fair idea what is going on.

These days we are all just a paper trail.

The more you earn, the more tax you are going to pay, thats just a fact.

Sure everyone tries to minimise it one way or the other, but its no way as easy as it was years ago.

Oh,and i have stayed away from lawyers like they all have the plague.....
That was until one of my sons got in some trouble, but that is another storey, and it cost me two kidneys and both arms

Agreed I think nowadays one has to make a profit at least two years out of five.

    Agree,..BIG TIME.
Having been involved in the financial sector for all of my working career, I've had the opportunity to view the books,...taxation info etc of literally thousands of people,......and I can definitely say that the avenues for the self employed,.....and they are "LEGAL", are huge,...HUGE,....conversely PAYE taxpayers have no such "loopholes" at all,....& I'm one!!!
    Pickles.
And by the way, I don't have a problem with this,....I have a big appreciation for anyone self employed,.....they've gotta make it happen,...if they don't work to make a quid, they don't get a quid,.....unlike many on wages, some of whom can bludge their life away as long as they like,....and still get paid.

    Pickles.
Thats correct, the self employed are way,way ahead, but many of the 'loopholes',rules, interpretations of rules, what ever you want to call them, have changed over the years, for the self employed.

With a good accountant, some can be got around, but not all.
