The excuse of needing a car to get around, yes it's a convenient luxury my parents had no money to buy a car in the early days, dad had a push bike to get around, catch a train etc . In those days there were also less shops round and you had to travel further. There are ways to get around you just need to make the effort, and not rely solely on cars. if your car is off the road do you sick on your arse at home and sulk or do you work out other ways to get around. If it takes longer then get up earlier.
